UNIMOG XEVO By now we've all seen the Xevo conversion kit for the M03 - M05 chassis, some of us have even bought them and driven them in anger (myself included). One thing people seem to struggle with is which body shell to run. The 210mm wheelbase Mini Cooper racing body doesn't have enough over hang at the front to accommodate the motor mount, and the same is true for a lot of the cool SWB bodies. That only leaves medium or long wheelbase. The Abarth Fiat 500 and Suzuki Swift fit easily, and with a few modifications the new Mini Cooper and Cooper S 2006 body will fit (but only just). For some of us, that still isn't enough options. | | | How tough is this! | And from the rear... |

HOME BUILT HERO Walk into a shop, hand over some hard-earned cash, walk out with an m-chassis kit, take it home and build it. That's what most of us do. But that's not good enough for Cesar Velayos. He thought he'd build his own FWD Mini chassis. And what an amazing car it is too! Check out the pictures and read in Cesars own words just how this fantastic car came about. |

CHOC-KOMBI Sometimes I think we just get a little bored with things, and when that happen is when the silliest things of all tend to form in our heads. The Choc-kombi is for sure one of those times. No-one can remember how we came up with the idea (it was at least 5-6 years back, maybe more) but the fact remains that we did it anyway. The shells were produced very slowly, with one part done each night. So, we'd melt enough chocolate to cover whatever are we were doing (i.e the roof, or the front, or one of the sides) and then 'paint' that side with chocolate and then lay it in the refrigerator on that side over night to cool. We used a HPI VW Kombi (also called Bus or Transporter) standard body shell and simply painted it on the inside with chocolate instead of paint. |

STUNT MINIS You betcha! This was back in 2004 and we were approached by the Victorian Mini Club (Thanks Jan!) to 'put on a bit of a show with some r/c minis' at their HUGE Show'n'Shine to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Mini. Minishow 2004 was a massive event in a major Melbourne event hall with thousands and thousands of people all weekend.And...one of THE most popular displays...was us! Amazingly we did this all day and the M03's never stopped.... |

ROCKET MINI OH YEAH.... Well, the problem was that we saw the rocket-powered Celica on Monster Garage on Discovery one night. And there sitting on the table near us was a spare mini chassis, one that had been retired from racing duties. About 4 hours later we ended up with this. |
